New Acropolis New Jersey is a nonprofit school of practical philosophy, culture, and volunteering based in South Orange, NJ.
Our work is guided by a simple idea: philosophy becomes meaningful when it helps us live with more clarity, courage, service, and humanity.
We are not a traditional academic institution focused on diplomas or abstract theory. New Acropolis New Jersey is a local expression of an international movement dedicated to philosophy as a way of life.
Our space is designed as a refuge from the speed of modern life, a place where people can reflect, learn, connect, and find practical tools for the challenges of everyday living.
Practical philosophy is not only something to study. It is something to practice in the way we think, choose, relate, and serve.

Our local center is rooted in New Jersey, while connected to the International Organization New Acropolis, founded in 1957 in Buenos Aires by professor Jorge Angel Livraga Rizzi.
Year the international organization was founded.

If we do not find anything worthwhile, there is no more constructive criticism than to begin working on what we believe to be good and possible. Example remains the best teaching, the best demonstration, and the most complete argument.

We believe philosophy has real value when it helps build character, strengthen ethical choices, and create authentic human connections.

We promote a spirit of unity based on respect for human dignity, beyond differences of background, gender, culture, religion, or social class.

We encourage the love of wisdom through comparative study of philosophy, religion, science, and art from East and West.

We seek to awaken the best human potential by balancing thought, feeling, and action in service of a more conscious life.
Modern life often pushes people into narrow specializations and isolated bubbles. New Acropolis encourages broad curiosity, bringing history, science, art, and philosophy into dialogue.
Culture here is not only something to watch. It is something to practice through conversation, creativity, reflection, and shared inquiry.

Wisdom without action remains incomplete. Our volunteering transforms philosophical study into practical care for the streets, parks, shelters, and communities of New Jersey.

Direct support and social aid for people who need practical help and human presence.

Awareness, preservation, and hands-on initiatives that encourage harmony with nature.

Local campaigns designed around the real needs and development of our region.
New Acropolis is sustained by the people who study, serve, and believe in the work. Support keeps the school independent and helps turn philosophy into community action.
Revenue is directed toward educational programs, operating costs, supplies, outreach, and social projects.
Educational programming and cultural materials support the work.
Associates help maintain the space and access the wider international network.
Voluntary service keeps administrative costs low and mission-focused.
Support may come from organizations that share compatible values.
Curiosity is enough. New people can begin through the introductory philosophy course or by joining a volunteer activity on the calendar.
An introductory journey through practical ideas from human history, with classic perspectives for contemporary problems.
